DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Kendrick Davis scored 24 points, 18 off 3-pointers, to help lead North Texas to a 93-78 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament Wednesday night.

Michael Sturns scored 16 points and Calvin Watson added 14 for the Mean Green (20-10, 11-8). Quincy Williams scored 11 and Harold Stewart 10. Williams also had three blocked shots.

David Dees led Louisiana-Lafayette (9-21, 7-12) with 24 points and Elijah Millsap added 21. Ross Mouton scored 11.

North Texas shot 55 percent from the field and hit 52 percent of its 3-pointers in beating Louisiana-Lafayette for the third time this season, including a 72-70 victory on a Davis 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left Saturday.

Louisiana-Lafayette shot 42 percent from the field.

North Texas led 50-41 at the half and never trailed in the second half.
