RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Eugene Spates scored 12 points during a 22-6 first-half run for Northeastern on Friday and the Huskies never looked back in a 77-67 victory against Delaware in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The Huskies (13-18) stretched their winning streak to four games and advanced to a quarterfinal game against fourth-seeded Drexel on Saturday. Delaware finished 5-26.

The Blue Hens led 10-2 before Spates came off the bench and ignited the burst with two 3-pointers. Bennet Davis added 8 points during the run, which ended with the Huskies ahead 24-16. The Blue Hens could get no closer than seven the rest of the half.

After the break, the Huskies extended their margin to as many as 23 with 14:08 to play before Delaware rallied to within 8 with 34.1 seconds remaining.

Spates and Davis led Northeastern with 20 points. Bobby Kelly added 15 and Matt Janning 13.
