Middle Tennessee 63, South Alabama 60, OT

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- Kevin Kanaskie made a driving jumper with 33 seconds left as Middle Tennessee beat top-seeded South Alabama 63-to-60 in overtime Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

The ninth-seeded Blue Raiders (15-16) hit six of eight free throws in the final 28 seconds of regulation.

South Alabama had a chance to tie the game as time ran out when Daon Merritt intentionally missed a free throw with two seconds left, but Carlos Smith's three-point shot came after the buzzer.

Middle Tennessee led virtually the entire second half. But Ernest Little's dunk with 1:16 left tied the game at 53 and neither team could convert on two late possessions.

Kanaskie had 12 points, Calvin O'Neil scored 11 and Desmond Yates added 10 for the Raiders. Demetric Bennett had 16 points to lead the Jaguars (20-10), while Little and Smith had 14 each.

The loss was the fourth straight for South Alabama after a 13-game win streak helped the Jaguars claim the Sun Belt's regular-season title.
