Siena 86, Marist 78

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Kenny Hasbrouck scored 26 points to lead Siena past Marist 86-78 Sunday in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.

Edwin Ubiles added 17 points and Michael Haddix had 15 for the fourth-seeded Saints (20-11), who advanced to their first MAAC championship game since 2002.

Top-seeded Marist (24-7) received 19 points from Will Whittington and 18 from Jared Jordan.

As the conference's regular season champion, the Red Foxes are guaranteed a berth in the National Invitation Tournament.

Marist led 40-34 at halftime, but the Saints assembled a 10-1 run to start the second half and never trailed again.

Wilfred Benjamin's putback with 3:27 remaining brought the Red Foxes within 69-65, but Hasbrouck scored seven points in just more than a minute and extended Siena's lead to double digits for the first time.

The Red Foxes were 11 of 35 from 3-point range, making only 2 of 17 attempts in the second half. Siena shot 58.5 percent from the floor, while Marist shot 39.1 percent.
