CINCINNATI (AP) -- Chris Knight scored 22 points in his personal homecoming as Bowling Green opened up a big first half lead before settling for a 78-67 win over Belmont Saturday.
Knight, a redshirt freshman and Cincinnati native, shot 9-for-14 from the field. Sophomore Marc Larson added 14 points to reach double figures for the first time in his career.
Bowling Green (1-1) started the game with an 11-0 run and led by as many as 17 four times in the first half.
Matthew Dotson scored 17 points to lead the Bruins (1-1), who reached the NCAA tournament as the Atlantic Sun Conference champion each of the last two seasons.
Belmont shot 51.6 percent overall and 40 percent on 3-pointers in an 86-75 win over Cincinnati Friday night, but could manage just 33.9 percent overall and 23.1 on 3-pointers against Bowling Green on Saturday.
The game was part of the inaugural Peggy Cronin Classic, a three-day, six-game tournament honoring the deceased mother of second-year Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin. The four-team event concludes Sunday.
