AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -- DeVon Mosley scored 23 points and Alex Barnett added 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead Dartmouth past VMI 98-87 for third place in the Air Force Classic on Saturday night.

Dartmouth (1-1), which was held to just 38 points against Air Force in the first round of the tournament, had a much better night offensively against the Keydets (0-2), the nation's leading-scoring team last season.

Dartmouth shot 52 percent from the field and didn't allow the fast-paced Keydets to get anything going in transition. VMI didn't score any points on the fast break.

Willie Bell cut the Dartmouth lead to 6 with just under two minutes to play, but the Keydets were forced to foul late and the Big Green sealed the win at the free-throw line.

VMI was led by Reggie Williams' 19 points. Travis Holmes added 18 more.

Williams, the nation's leading scorer last season, played only in the second half for VMI. He was hampered by a groin injury he suffered in Friday night's loss to Northern Colorado.

The Keydets were also without starting point guard Adam Lonor, who was fighting a stomach virus.

Williams helped power a high-octane VMI offense last season that finished No. 1 in the country in points (100.9), assists (20.6), steals (14.8) and 3-pointers (13.4) per game last season.

The Big Green weren't afraid to play that up-tempo style.
