CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) -- Nick Aldridge scored 22 points to lead Western Carolina to an 87-76 victory over Methodist on Wednesday night.
Michael Porrini added 15 points and 10 rebounds and Brandon Giles had 13 points for the Catamounts (2-2), who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Western Carolina shot 51.4 percent, outrebounded Division III Methodist 43-30 and scored 28 points off 25 turnovers by the Monarchs.
The latest meeting between the cross-state schools was closer than most. Western Carolina had won the previous five meetings by an average of nearly 36 points, and the Catamounts won the most recent meeting in 1986 by 61 points.
