STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -- Seven-footer Robin Lopez scored a career-high 24 points and had a season-high 12 rebounds in leading Stanford past Yale 72-61 on Tuesday night.
Lawrence Hill added a career best 25 points for the Cardinal (5-1), who rebounded from their first loss of the season to Siena on Saturday.
Flato, who hails from nearby Piedmont, had a sizable following in the stands.
Yale, in the middle of a four-game road trip, travels to Los Angeles for a game at No. 2 UCLA on Friday. The Bulldogs will spend Thanksgiving in Orange County, hosted by Travis Pinick's family.
Stanford guard Drew Shiller made his first 13 free throws of the season before missing midway through the second half. The sophomore transfer had an overall string of 21 straight snapped dating to his days at San Francisco in January 2006.
The Bulldogs made six of their first eight shots in the second half, with a 3-pointer from Nick Holmes drawing them within 44-41 with 13:59 remaining to play.
Stanford never trailed in the game but it never had a comfortable lead until drawing away in the final two minutes.
The Cardinal took a 69-59 lead into the closing minutes.
Lopez, the tallest player on the court for either team, nearly matched Yale in first-half rebounds. He grabbed eight of them to the Bulldogs' 13. He was 5-of-7 from the floor and blocked three shots in the game's first eight minutes as Stanford took a 36-26 lead at halftime.
