Broncos' 12 3-pointers upend No. 25 Davidson

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -- Derek Drews scored 18 points and all five Western Michigan starters reached double figures in the Broncos' 83-76 victory over No. 25 Davidson on Wednesday night.

Drew hit five 3-pointers for the second time this season, tying a career high, in a 3-point shooting display put on by both teams.

Western and Davidson combined for 21 3-point baskets, with the Broncos (4-2) hitting 12 of them.

Stephen Curry, topping 20 points for the third consecutive game, led Davidson (1-2) with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He also hit five 3-pointers.

Curry scored 17 points in the second half, including a 3-point basket with 2:33 left that pulled the Wildcats to within 71-70. But David Kool responded with a 3-pointer to put Western back up by four points and Curry fouled out on the Broncos' next possession.

Jason Richards added 23 points for Davidson and Boris Meno had a game-high eight rebounds.

Shawntes Gary added a season-high 17 points for Western, Kool scored 13, Michael Redell had 11 and Joe Reitz 10. Redell also had a game-high nine assists, tying a career high.
