ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Courtney Lee scored 22 points and blunted a Michigan comeback as Western Kentucky downed the Wolverines 73-69 on Saturday for fourth place in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

Michigan (3-3) chipped a 13-point halftime deficit to four, but Lee responded with the Hilltoppers' next nine points to give his team some breathing room. A 3-pointer by DeShawn Sims again trimmed the lead to four and Manny Harris' dunk off a steal made it 71-69 with 44 seconds left.

When Western Kentucky ran the clock down but was unable to get off a clean shot, D.J. Magley threw in a follow-up with 9.9 seconds to seal the victory.

Inside domination by Magley freed up Lee outside as the Hilltoppers whipsawed Michigan throughout the first half.

Western Kentucky (5-1) built a five-point lead in the early going before Wolverine Ron Coleman scored six points over a three-minute stretch. Two free throws by Harris gave Michigan its only lead of the game, 18-17.

Strong play in the paint, including two jams and a tip-in by Magley, put the Hilltoppers back in charge with a 45-32 halftime lead. Only 12 points by Harris kept it from being larger.

Michigan improved its scoring balance in the second half, but Harris still led the Wolverines with 22 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Fourteen of his points came on free throws. Sims finished with 16, including 11 in the second half.

Magley contributed 18 points on 8-9 shooting and grabbed five rebounds for the Hilltoppers.
