BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Travis Peterson scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting to lead Samford to a 73-30 victory over Brewton Parker Saturday.
The win was the Bulldogs' (2-2) first in the school's new Pete Hanna Center and broke a two-game losing streak.
Samford never trailed in the game and jumped out to an early 8-0 lead.
Brewton-Parker's (2-4) Bradley Wilson scored on an acrobatic layup with 8:40 left in the first half to trim Samford's lead to 16-15.
The Bulldogs used a 43-5 run to take a 59-20 advantage with 7:22 left in the game. Samford led 35-17 at the half and outscored Brewton-Parker 24-3 to open the second period.
Peterson tied a career-high with four 3-pointers and added six rebounds and four assists. Joe Ross Merritt followed with 10 points and pulled down three rebounds in just 19 minutes of play.
None of the Barons reached double figures. Jurbien Byrd led the team with eight points and was 3-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-6 from the field. Nate Greene followed with seven points and Maurice Veal added five.
