MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Joe Alexander scored 22 points to lead West Virginia to a 110-44 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers (4-1) went on a 22-1 run to take a 46-13 lead with 2:52 left in the first half. Alexander showcased his entire arsenal, dunking twice -- once off an inbounds pass -- and hitting a jumper and an inside basket to score eight points during the run.
The Mountaineers led 52-18 at the half and took their largest lead on Flowers' free throw with 1:56 left that made it 106-36.
West Virginia had a 45-31 advantage in rebounding and scored 52 points in the paint. It also turned 27 Maryland-Eastern Shore turnovers into a season-best 44 points. West Virginia had 31 assists and tallied 10 blocks and 11 steals.
Maryland-Eastern Shore shot a season-worst 25.5 percent, missing 41 of 55 shots.
