KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Chris Singletary scored 16 points and Mike McKee had 12 points -- including seven during a 14-0 spurt in the game's first few minutes -- as Kent State cruised past Saint Louis 81-40 Wednesday night.
Saint Louis' Barry Eberhardt scored the game's first points, a jumper 53 seconds into the match. But McKee responded with a layup and a 3-pointer to start the 14-point run for the Golden Flashes (5-2), and the rout was on.
Kent State led 42-15 at halftime, and only Kevin Lisch, with six points, could manage more than two points in the first half for Saint Louis (6-2).
Kent State shot 58.3 percent for the game, while Saint Louis shot 31.1 percent.
