PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Darnell Harris and Rodney Green each scored 12 points and freshman guard Kyle Griffin scored four clutch points in the last 45 seconds as La Salle defeated Central Connecticut State 59-55 on Wednesday.

Jerrell Williams added 10 points and 10 rebounds for La Salle (3-2). Ken Horton led the Blue Devils (1-5) with 19 points and Tristan Blackwood added 18.

The Explorers led most of the game and held a 55-49 advantage with 1:42 remaining. Central Connecticut State's Shemik Thompson made two foul shots with 1:17 to go, but Griffin's driving layup gave La Salle a 57-51 edge.

Blackwood then made two free throws, followed by a steal and layup by Dannie Powell as the Blue Devils closed to within 57-55 with 19 seconds left. Griffin then hit two free throws at the 14-second mark to seal the victory.

La Salle jumped out to a 20-7 lead, but the Blue Devils responded with a 10-0 run, 6 of the points by Horton. A 3-pointer by Harris gave the Explorers a 27-17 edge.
