CHICAGO (AP) -- Joe Davis scored a team-high 18 points to lead Cleveland State to a 77-73 victory over Chicago State on Tuesday night.
The Cougars held Cleveland State leading scorer Cedric Jackson to six points, but he had a game-high eight assists and a pair of steals.
The Cougars had a chance to tie the game at 76 but Steve Martin missed a 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining.
The Cougars had 27 points off turnovers, compared with 15 for Chicago State. Cleveland State's bench also outscored the Chicago State bench 31-21.
The Vikings led 40-36 at the half.
