PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Brian McKenzie, Germaine Peterson and Randall Hanke all scored 13 points to lead Providence to a 70-51 victory over Brown at The Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday night.

Geoff McDermott added seven points and 11 rebounds to help the Friars (6-3) break a two-game losing streak and gain an 88-26 edge in the intrastate rivalry which began in 1928.

Mark McAndrew had 15 points for the Bears (5-4) whose three-game winning streak was snapped.

Providence shot 50 percent (27-for-54) from the field while Brown was held to 33 percent (17-for-51).

The Bears couldn't capitalize from the free throw line making 13 of 21 as Providence converted 10 of 14.

Providence led 35-25 at halftime. Brown closed within 37-31 on a three-point play by Mark McDonald four minutes into the second half, but the Friars pulled away.
