PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Scott Rodgers scored a season-high 18 points and Drexel capitalized on a dominant first half and defeated Bucknell 65-53 on Saturday.

Frank Elegar scored 16 points, all in the second half for the Dragons (5-5), and went over the 1,000-point mark for his career.

John Griffin had 11 points, and G.W. Boon 10, for the Bison (4-6), which lost its sixth in the last eighth games.

Sparked by Rodgers, Drexel went on a 15-2 run over the last nine minutes of the first half to lead 34-15 at the break.

Drexel hit on 12 of 28 shots in the half, while Bucknell made only six of 29, including two of 14 from 3-point range, and missed on seven of eight from the foul line.

The Bison cut the lead to nine points on six occasions in the second half, and a jumper by Griffin made it 57-48 with 2:07 left. But Elegar made two free throws at the 1:49 mark to end the threat.

The teams were playing for the first time since the 1991-92 season, with Drexel now holding a 15-14 edge in the all-time series.
