LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Anthony Smith had 21 points and Alex McLean had 18 points and 13 rebounds as Liberty beat Nyack 74-57 Saturday.
Kyle Ohman added 11 points and
TeeJay Bannister had 10 assists for the Flames (7-7), who shot better than 53 percent compared to nearly 37 percent shooting for Nyack.
Nyack (4-8) jumped ahead by 3 in the first half, but Smith's 3-pointer with 15:41 gave the Flames the lead for good. Liberty led by as many as 11 in the first half before taking a 40-32 lead at the break.
A 14-3 run over five minutes in the second half put the Flames up 58-39 with 10:14 to play. Liberty took its largest lead of 71-46 on
Russell Monroe's layup with 4:59 left, but didn't score again for two minutes while the Warriors scored eight unanswered points to come to within 71-54 with 2:54 remaining.
Stedford McLeod led the Warriors with 10 points.
