THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- With the seconds rapidly ticking off the clock in overtime, Ryan Bathie had a put back lay up after a missed 3-pointer by Anatoly Bose to give Nicholls State a 58-57 Southland Conference win over Stephen F. Austin on Thursday night.

Nicholls (6-10, 1-0) fell behind in the overtime period 57-52, but went on a 6-0 run to close out the game for the win.

Both teams entered the extra period tied at 50 as the Colonels overcame a two-point halftime deficit, 32-30, to send the game into overtime.

Stephen F. Austin (12-2, 0-1) had a chance to extend its lead in the extra period to two with eight seconds left, but Matt Kingsley missed the front end of a one-and-one opportunity. Kingsley, the conference's leading scorer, was 0-for-6 from the floor for the game and was limited to just four points -- all of which came from the free throw line.

The Lumberjacks, who were riding a 10-game win streak that included a victory over Oklahoma, did boast the game's leading scorer as Josh Alexander had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Also in double figures were Eric Bell, who added 13 points, and Nick Shaw had 11.

Bose, who came off the bench for the Colonels, scored a team best 17 points while Bathie had 14 and Justin Payne added 10.
