HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Larry Cox had 14 points and 12 rebounds to help lead Mississippi Valley State to a 68-63 victory over Alabama A&M Monday night.
The Delta Devils (3-11, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led for much of the first half but lost their advantage in the final minutes, giving the Bulldogs (4-10, 1-3 SWAC) a 34-31 lead going into the intermission. Alabama A&M held onto the lead in the second period until MVSU pulled ahead on a jumper by Cox with 11:38 to play and never let the Bulldogs regain the lead.Stanford Speech joined Cox with 14 points to lead the Delta Devils. Carl Lucas added 12 more and Chris Watson and Michael Clark chipped in with 10 points apiece.Alabama A&M's Evan Hilton was the game high scorer with 18 points. Jonathan Belt added 16 points for the Bulldogs and Mickell Gladness had 12.
