LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Anthony Smith scored 22 points to lead Liberty to a 79-63 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday night.
Alex McLean added 16 points,
TeeJay Bannister had 14 and
B.J. Jenkins scored 13 for Liberty.
Liberty (9-9, 1-2 Big South) fell behind only in the game's first five minutes and led 34-30 at halftime. The Flames used an 18-6 run to build their lead to as much as 62-41 with 8:49 remaining in the game. Smith scored 10 points during the run.
Liberty made 17-of-20 free throws after halftime.
Omar Carter scored 21 points and
Shelton Carter added 13 for Charleston Southern (7-11, 1-2).
Jamarco Warren, the team's second-leading scorer, was limited to five points, 10 under his average.
