JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Anthony Williams scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Grambling State to its second win of the season with a 78-69 victory over Jackson State on Saturday.
Grambling (2-12, 2-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took control of a tied game early in the first half with an 18-3 run to take make it 29-13 with 6:58 left in the half.
Jackson State (6-14, 4-3) has lost three of its last four games and shot just 37 percent in the game.
Grambling shot 56 percent from the floor and held Jackson State without a basket for over nine minutes of the first half.
Williams scored 10 straight points during a three-minute stretch of the second half as Grambling extended its lead to 63-41 with 11:40 left in the game.
The Tigers pulled within 70-62 with 3:50 remaining in the game, but couldn't close the gap.
