LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Alex McLean had 18 points and 10 rebounds and hit the go-ahead free throws with 19 seconds to play Saturday night as Liberty beat High Point 55-51.
The Flames (11-9, 3-2) saw two 8-point leads disappear down the stretch before McLean was fouled with the score tied at 51. He made both free throws, and after High Point turned the ball over,
B.J. Jenkins' layup with 2 seconds left clinched the victory.
High Point (9-9, 2-3) got 25 points and eight rebounds from Arizona Reid and 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists from
Mike Jefferson, but the rest of the team managed just four field goals on 4-for-22 shooting and totaled 13 points.
The Flames also got 11 points from Jenkins and 10 from
TeeJay Bannister.
