NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Michael Deloach scored 18 points and Tony Murphy added 17 Saturday night as Norfolk State put on one of its best offensive displays in years in a 97-71 victory against South Carolina State.
The Spartans (8-9, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) won for the sixth time in seven games and reached their highest point total in regulation since the 2000 season.
South Carolina State (6-13, 2-3) got 15 points from Carrio Bennett and 14 from Jessie Burton, but allowed 23 points on 18 turnovers, was outrebounded 44-30 and came up on the short end of a 26-4 difference in points off offensive rebounds.
The Spartans led 46-27 at halftime and coasted to their largest victory margin since a 28-point triumph against Morgan State in January 2006.
Rashid Cann and Carey Lyons each added 14 points for the Spartans.
