BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Courtney Lee scored a career-high 33 points and Western Kentucky hung on for a 77-68 victory over Arkansas State Sunday.
The Hilltoppers (16-5, 8-1 Sun Belt) led by 15 points at halftime and by as many as 18 points with 15:28 to play, but the Indians rallied and closed to within three points on Ryan Wedel?s 3-point basket with 5:18 remaining.
Lee then hit consecutive 3-pointers and a pair of free throws to extend Western Kentucky's lead back to 70-59 to seal the victory.
Lee was 9 of 15 from the floor, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range and 10 of 13 at the free-throw line in eclipsing his previous career high of 31 points.
Tyrone Brazelton added 20 points for the Hilltoppers, including a 3-point shot at the halftime buzzer that gave Western Kentucky a 42-27 lead at the break.
