FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Will Thomas had 21 points and 15 rebounds and George Mason remained unbeaten at home with a 63-51 victory over Virginia Commonwealth on Tuesday night.
Thomas and Folarin Campbell combined for 11 points in a decisive 20-4 burst in the second half when the Patriots (15-6, 7-3 Colonial Athletic Association) erased a six point deficit and took a 51-43 lead with 3:25 remaining.
VCU (15-5, 8-2) cut the lead to 53-48 about a minute later on Frank Ndongo's basket and a 3-pointer by Jamal Shuler. But the Patriots put the game away by scoring the next six points.
Campbell scored 17 points and John Vaughan added 10 for George Mason, which improved to 10-0 at home and ended a three-game losing streak to the Rams, including last season's conference championship.
Shuler scored 21 points and Eric Maynor had 12 for the Rams, who suffered their largest defeat of the season.
