Kent St. 77, E. Michigan 67

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Mike McKee scored 19 points and Al Fisher added 13 to power Kent State to a 77-67 victory over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night.

Chris Singletary also had 12 points for the Golden Flashes (17-4, 6-1 Mid-American). Kent State has won 12 straight games over conference rival Eastern Michigan, dating back to the 1998-99 season.

Carlos Medlock scored 17 points and Tyler Jones and Jarred Axon had 10 apiece for the Eagles (7-12, 3-4). Eastern Michigan has lost three of its last four games.

After trailing by as many as 19 points midway through the second half, Eastern Michigan used a 16-2 run to cut the deficit to 55-50 with 8:01 left. Kent State responded by scoring seven of the next nine points to go ahead by 10. The Eagles were unable to get closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Kent State hit 52.9 percent of its shots, including 10 3-pointers.

The game was close for the first seven minutes before Kent State clamped down defensively and went on a 13-1 run to build a double-digit cushion. The Eagles committed 14 turnovers in the first half.
