MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- Kenny Hayes scored 27 points and Miami of Ohio hit 57 percent of its 3-pointers to beat Ball State 66-54 Saturday afternoon.
Hayes sank 3-of-4 3-pointers, and Miami (10-10, 4-4) made 8-of-14 from beyond the arc. Hayes also hit 10-of-11 free throws.
Michael Bramos added 15 points, and Eric and
Tim Pollitz contributed 10 each for the RedHawks.
Miami took a 32-26 lead into halftime after hitting 4-of-6 3-pointers and 13-of-24 field goals.
The RedHawks shot 50 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free-throw line for the game and also scored 15 points off Ball State turnovers.
Anthony Newell led Ball State (3-17, 2-6) with 17 points, and
Melvin Goins added 15.
Malik Perry grabbed nine rebounds to help the Cardinals to a 33-30 rebounding edge.
But Ball State made only 3-of-14 3-pointers and shot 37 percent from the field for the game. Newell hit only 6-of-20 field goals, and Goins sank 6-of-15.
The win was Miami's eighth straight over Ball State.
