MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Giordan Watson tied a career high with 34 points as he led Central Michigan past Buffalo 100-96 in double overtime Saturday night.
Watson made the eventual game-winning free throws with nine seconds to play, putting the Chippewas (9-11, 4-4 Mid-American Conference) ahead 98-93.
The Bulls'
Rodney Pierce hit a 3-pointer with four seconds to play for the Bulls (6-14, 0-8) to cut Central's lead to 98-96, but
Jordan Bitzer hit two free throws with one second to play to lock up the win.
Buffalo?s
Andy Robinson hit a 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining in the first overtime to force a second extra session at 84-84. The Robinson trey followed a 3-pointer from Central Michigan?s Chris Kellerman that came with nine seconds to play.
Watson hit one of his five 3-pointers with 38 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 71-71. He missed a shot in the closing seconds that could have given the Chippewas a win in regulation.
Watson finished with eight assists and five steals to go with his 34 points, while Kellerman and
Jeremy Allen each had 15 points.
Robinson had 22 points to lead Buffalo, while Pierce had 21 points.
