SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -- Senior guard Frank Robinson scored 27 points to lead Cal State Fullerton to an 80-67 victory over Cal Poly Saturday night in a Big West Conference basketball game.
Robinson made nine of 17 floor shots, including four of six from three-point range. He connected on five of seven free throws.
Cal State Fullerton also got double-digit scores from junior guard Josh Akognon (15 points), senior forward Scott Cutley (13 points) and senior guard Ray Reed (10 points). Reed also had seven assists.
The Titans improved to 15-7 for the season and 8-3 in Big West games.
Cal Poly, led by junior guard Trae Clark's 16 points, fell to 9-13 and 4-6.
The Mustangs led for most of the first half, building a pair of eight-point advantages at 14-6 and 20-12, but Cal State Fullerton scored the final 10 points of the half for a 36-28 cushion at the break.
The Titans gradually extended their lead in the second half to 14 points at 65-51 on a three-pointer by Robinson with 6:14 to play. Cal Poly trimmed the deficit to six points, 69-63, with a 12-4 run capped by Shelton's layup with 2:59 to play.
Cal State Fullerton scored seven of the game's final eight points in the final two minutes to win going away.
