WASHINGTON (AP) -- Wynton Witherspoon hit a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left Saturday night to give George Washington a 57-54 win over Dayton, snapping the Colonials' seven-game losing streak.

After Dayton tied the game on a basket by Brian Roberts with 35 seconds left, George Washington held the ball for the last shot. Maureece Rice was ready to launch a contested jumper from the right corner, changed his mind in mid-air and instead passed to Witherspoon, who made the game-winner from the right wing.

Rob Diggs scored a career-high 29 points and had 11 rebounds for the Colonials (6-13, 2-7 Atlantic 10). Witherspoon added 19 points off the bench.

Roberts led Dayton (16-6, 4-5) with 20 points. Charles Little added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Flyers, which fell to 1-8 all-time at the Smith Center.

GW led 26-14 late in the first half and 30-25 at halftime. Neither team led by more than five in the second half.

Rice, a senior captain, did not score for the second straight game. He entered the game averaging 11.1 points.
