LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -- Josh Duell's 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left gave Siena a hard-fought 80-77 win over Rider on Sunday.
Ryan Thompson's layup with 1:58 remaining culminated an 8-0 Rider run and gave the Broncs (18-7, 11-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) a 75-69 lead, but the Saints (16-8, 11-3) then closed the game with an 11-2 run that featured eight points by Duell.
The run began when Kenny Hasbrouck made one of two free throws. Duell then hit a 3-pointer and, on his team's next possession, made a layup to tie the score at 75-75 with 58 seconds left to play.
Jason Thompson then hit the second of two free throws for the Broncs, but Ronald Moore responded with a jumper to give the Saints a 77-76 lead. Jason Thompson then tied the score at 77-77 by making the second of two free throws with 16 seconds left.
Siena then held the ball until Duell's game-winning shot, and Jason Thompson's desperation 3-point try missed as time expired.
Duell finished with 14 points, while Alex Franklin led the Saints with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Hasbrouck added 18 points, while Moore finished with 17 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
Jason Thompson had 26 points, 24 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Broncs, while Ryan Thompson and Kamorin Warner both scored 13 points. The loss ended the Broncs' 10-game winning streak.
