KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -- David Kool scored five points in overtime, including a 3-pointer to force a second overtime, and Western Michigan overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Miami (Ohio), 78-75 on Tuesday night.
Kool led Western Michigan (14-10, 8-3 Mid-American) with 23 points and twice rescued the Broncos from defeat. He forced overtime by hitting a shot with four seconds left in regulation, tying the score at 63, then drilled a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in the first overtime to tie the score at 71.
Michael Bramos scored a game-high 26 points for Miami (12-11, 6-5), which lost for the first time in six games. Bramos, who played 49 of the game's 50 minutes, missed a 3-pointer with three seconds left in the second overtime.
Shawntes Gary added 16 points for Western, which extended its home-winning streak to eight and its lead in the MAC West Division to three games. Senior center
Joe Reitz had 11 points and 15 rebounds.
A 3-pointer by Bramos with 5:32 left in regulation gave Miami a 58-48 lead, but the RedHawks did not score another basket. They still led by four points, 62-58, with 1:37 left, but two free throws by Gary and three points by Kool led to the tie.
Tim Pollitz added 18 points, and
Kenny Hayes had 12 for Miami.
