N.C.-Wilmington 75, George Mason 73

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- T.J. Carter's lay-up at the buzzer gave visiting North Carolina-Wilmington a 75-73 victory over George Mason on Saturday night.

After Carter's shot, the officials gathered courtside and watched a replay of the final play. Less than a minute later, they upheld the call.

UNC-Wilmington (17-10, 10-5 Colonial Athletic Association) moved into a second-place tie with George Mason (18-8, 10-5), behind first place Virginia Commonwealth.

With six seconds remaining, George Mason senior Will Thomas was fouled. He made the first free throw. UNC-Wilmington then called a timeout. After Thomas missed the second free throw, Carter grabbed the rebound and dribbled down the right-hand side of the court before making his final shot.

George Mason's Folarin Campbell scored a game-high 24 points. Todd Hendley led UNC-Wilmington with 21, including 11 in the final five minutes.
