CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Brent Benson sank the game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds left to give Texas State a 71-69 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.
Benson's final basket redeemed a 1-for-6 shooting night off the bench and made sure
Brandon Thomas' 18 points and 15 rebounds didn't go to waste for the Bobcats (12-13, 5-7 Southland).
Justin Reynolds led the Islanders (8-16, 5-6) with 16 points.
Brandon Bush was just 2-of-8 from the field but hit 9 of 11 free throws to finish with 13 points for Texas State.
Corey Jefferson added 11.
TAMU-CC tied the game in the final minute on a layup by
Kevin Perkins, but he later missed a jumper to set up Benson's winning shot.
