CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) -- Eric Wilson scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Western Carolina took advantage of poor shooting by The Citadel to take a 61-42 victory on Saturday.

Wilson had the best day of any starter on either team, going 6-for-7 for the Catamounts (9-18, 5-12 Southern Conference), who shot 43.4 percent for the game.

The Bulldogs (5-21, 1-17) went just 6-for-21 in the first half, and slightly better at 9-for-26 in the second half, ending at 31.9 percent for the game.

Western Carolina took care of matters in the first 8 minutes, running up an 11-0 lead. The Citadel was as close as 15-8 after Phillip Pandak's 3-pointer with 9:26 left in the first half, but the Catamounts ran off seven straight points and were never threatened again.

Brandon Giles added 13 for Western Carolina.

Zach Urbanus had 23 for The Citadel, and was the only Bulldog player in double figures. Pandak was the next leading scorer with 8.
