DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Marko Spica came off the bench to score 19 points and lead Central Michigan to an 80-73 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday.

Giordan Watson had 18 points and hit 9-of-10 free throws for Central Michigan (12-15, 7-7 Mid-American Conference). The Chippewas led 32-29 going into the break and held on during the second half, outscoring Northern Illinois (6-19, 3-10) 48-44.

Darion Anderson led the Huskies with 23 points and 11 rebounds to earn a double-double. Jarvis Nichols and Michael Patton scored 17 and 14 points respectively for Northern Illinois.

Central Michigan led by as many as 14 points in a game that saw the lead change five times with the score tied twice. Northern Illinois' biggest lead was by five at one point in the first half.

Central Michigan shot 46.2 percent from the floor, compared with 43.5 percent for Northern Illinois. The Chippewas were also more successful from the free throw line, hitting 26-of-33 for 78.8 percent, compared with 65.2 percent for the Huskies.
