GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Jordan Miller scored 22 points to lead Furman to a 67-51 win over Emory on Friday night.
Alex Opacic chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds for the Paladins (1-0). Miller also contributed six rebounds and four assists.
Emory was led by Dan Curtin, who scored 18 points. The Eagles (0-1) shot 34 percent from the floor on 18-for-52 shooting. Anthony Fernandez chipped in with 11 points for the Eagles.
Furman managed a 37-23 edge in rebounding and shot 54 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line.
With the game tied at 32-32, Furman began a 13-2 run highlighted by seven points from Miller to open up a 45-34 lead with 15:38 left in the game. The Paladins outscored the Eagles 31-19 over the final 20 minutes while holding Emory to 28 percent shooting from the floor in the second half.
