DELAND, Fla. -- Kris Thomas scored the first seven points of overtime to lead Stetson to a 64-58 win against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night.
Thomas made a 3-pointer to break a 51-all tie, just 31 seconds into overtime. He then hit a layup with 3:33 remaining in the overtime for a 56-52 advantage. Thomas then stole the ball, was fouled on the breakaway and hit both free throws to give the Hatters (1-1) a 58-52 lead with 2:49 left to play.Stetson's Garfield Blair had 15 points and 10 rebounds. A.J. Smith added 12 points and six assists, and Thomas finished with 11 points for Stetson.Bethune-Cookman's C.J. Reed led all scorers with 20 points. The Wildcats (1-1) also had 16 points from Thomas Jarrell, along with 11 points and 11 rebounds from John Holmes.
