Harangody's 27 points, 15 rebounds nearly not enough for Fighting Irish
LOS ANGELES -- Corey Counts had just made his second straight long 3-pointer, and suddenly, Notre Dame's lead over unheralded Loyola Marymount had shrunk to three points with seven minutes to go.The Fighting Irish (No. 9 ESPN/USA Today, No. 8 AP) turned to old reliables Luke Harangody and Tory Jackson, and order was quickly restored.
• Luke Harangody scored 27 points on 9-for-17 shooting. He was the only Irish player to shoot better than 50 percent.
• Notre Dame held the Lions to just 33 percent shooting and controlled the boards, ourebounding Loyola Marymount 40-28.
• The Fighting Irish improved to 32-5 in November under coach Mike Brey.
• Loyola Marymount falls to 0-4 on the season and 7-22 all-time vs. current members of the Big East.
