Dartmouth 68, Furman 63

HANOVER, N.H. -- Alex Barnett scored 24 points, including a key late basket, to lead Dartmouth to a 68-63 victory over Furman on Tuesday night.

Barnett sealed the game with a scoring drive with 20 seconds that put Dartmouth up 67-63.

Elgin Fitzgerald and Ronnie Dixon each added 14 points for Dartmouth (1-3).

Furman (1-3) was led by 14 from Alex Opacic. Noah States had 11 and Bryson Barnes and Justin Dehm each scored 10.

Dartmouth hit only 16 of 26 free throws, but made six 3-pointers in 13 attempts. Furman managed only 4 of 16 from 3-point range.

Furman refused to go away, pulling within 52-51 on a 9-0 run late in game. But Fitzgerald answered with two free throws and Ronnie Dixon added a 3-pointer. Dixon hit another 3-pointer after Furman pulled within 60-58.

Connor Nolte's 3-pointer with 40 seconds narrowed Dartmouth's lead to 65-63 before Barnett's final points.
