DENTON, Texas -- Collin Dennis hit two free throws in the final 30 seconds Wednesday night to give North Texas an 84-82 victory over Jackson State.
Jackson State tied the game at 82-82 on a layup by Darrion Griffin with 56 seconds left. Dennis made one of two free throws with 33 seconds left. He grabbed the rebound after Griffin missed a jumper and was fouled by De'Suan Dixon. Dennis missed the first of the free throws but sank the second with three seconds left.Dominique Johnson led North Texas (4-1) with 17 points. Dennis added 15 while Adam McCoy scored 12 and Tristan Thompson 11.Jeremy Caldwell led Jackson State (0-4) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Griffin added 16 points. Grant Maxey scored 13 and Rod Melvin 10.North Texas led 43-40 at the half. The game was tied 16 times.
