Iowa 61, Bryant 36

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Freshman Matt Gatens scored a career high 19 points, Cyrus Tate pulled down 12 rebounds and Iowa rolled past Bryant 61-36 on Friday night.

Freshman Anthony Tucker came off the bench and added 12 for the Hawkeyes (7-2), including three 3-pointers during a 12-0 run that opened up the game midway through the second half.

Bryant, in its first year of its transition from Division II to Division I, cut a 15-point deficit to eight with 16:27 left. But Tucker -- who didn?t start because of an illness -- keyed the run that put the game out of reach.

The Bulldogs (1-5) got eight points each from Andrew Lyell and Barry Latham.

Iowa made 73 percent of its shots in the second half, including 8-of-12 shooting from 3-point range.

Tate had eight points for the Hawkeyes, and freshman Aaron Fuller had seven in the second half.
