EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Jason Holsinger scored 18 points and Evansville maintained a double-digit lead from 5:11 left in the first half as the Purple Aces beat Ball State 73-63 Saturday.
Evansville (5-1) scored seven of the game's first eight points and never trailed. The Aces reeled off seven straight points midway through the first half to go up 34-19 on Denver Holmes' jumper with 4:37 left before the break. They led 41-26 at halftime.
Pieter van Tongeren's layup gave Evansville its biggest lead, 45-26, just over a minute into the second half, and Ball State (4-3) never came closer than the final margin.
