WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Alex Smith scored 16 points to lead four other William & Mary players in double figures in an 83-50 rout against Haverford on Saturday.
The game was close to start as the Tribe (4-6) held a 26-25 lead with 6:16 left in the first half. But William & Mary used a 14-2 run, sparked by Smith's seven points and Matt McFadden's five points during the spurt to give them a 13-point advantage at halftime.
Smith, who shot 6 of 6 from the field, made a layup with 13:32 remaining in the second half to give the Tribe a 53-33 lead. The Fords (3-3) followed with a score by Sam Permutt, but would not come no closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
Ian Goldberg led Haverford with 13 points.
