MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Alex Ruoff scored a career-high 38 points to lead West Virginia to an 89-54 win over Radford on Tuesday night.

Ruoff hit five first-half 3-pointers as West Virginia (9-2) raced out to a 37-24 halftime lead.

The Mountaineer guard made four more 3-pointers in the second half, setting a new West Virginia record with nine 3-pointers in the rout. Ruoff would go on to miss his final three field goal attempts, failing to become the first Mountaineer since 1978 to score at least 40 points in a game.

The Highlanders (3-8) struggled to get into an offensive flow as West Virginia forced 15 first-half turnovers leading to 12 points for the Mountaineers. Radford finished with 25 turnovers for the game.

Artsiom Parakhouski led the Highlanders with 13 points.
