CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Tyler Quinney scored 16 points, and John Clifford added 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Southern Utah to a 76-51 win Saturday over Sacramento State.
David Marek and
Davis Baker scored 13 points each for the Thunderbirds (4-9, 2-0 Summit), who shot 52 percent overall. Southern Utah's
Cory Davis added 11 points.
Justin Eller led the Hornets (1-11, 0-0 Big Sky) with 13 points.
Randy Adams scored 10 points and had nine rebounds for Sacramento State, which has lost 30 straight on the road.
Leading 19-17, Southern Utah took control with a 13-0 spurt in the first half. Quinney's two free throws with 4:44 left in the half made it 32-17.
The Thunderbirds maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, putting the game away with a 10-0 run.
Jaren Jeffrey's free throw with 4:48 left gave the Thunderbirds their largest lead, 69-40.
