SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Andre Murray had 16 points and Jamie Jones added 14 in Portland State's 79-67 victory over Sacramento State on Friday night.
Julius Thomas had 11 points, and
Phil Nelson and
Dominic Waters scored 10 points each for the
Portland State Vikings (11-4, 2-0 Big Sky).
Loren Leath had 23 points and
Antonio Flaggs added 12 points for the
Sacramento State Hornets (1-13, 0-1 Big Sky), who lost their eighth consecutive game.
After
Jonathan Malloy's basket gave the Hornets a 13-11 lead with 14:11 left in the first half, the Vikings responded with a 20-4 run that ended with a lay up by Julius Thomas that made the score 31-17.
The Vikings shot 52 percent (13 of 25) from the floor in the first half to take a 33-22 halftime lead. The Hornets went seven minutes without a basket in the first half.
