MACOMB, Ill. -- Josh Rivers and David DuBois each scored 21 points as Western Illinois survived a late Kangaroo rally to defeat Missouri-Kansas City 71-68 on Friday.
Western Ilinois (6-8, 3-0 Summit) led 36-22 going into halftime, but UMKC (5-12, 1-3 Summit) rallied after the break to outscore the Leathernecks 46-35 in the second period. David Nurse added three 3-pointers for Western Illinois.
Western Illinois shot 52.2 percent overall from the field for the game, while UMKC shot 40.4 percent. UMKC had 35 rebounds for the game compared with 26 for Western Illinois.
