Jawan Carter hit five free throws during final 58 seconds, including one that gave Delaware its final margin of victory after Joey Rodriguez pulled VCU within one point on a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left.
Delaware erased a four-point deficit at the break, outscoring VCU 50-44 in the second half.
The Blue Hens shot 65.2 percent from the field (15 of 23) in the second half, and hit 10 of 18 3-pointers in the game.
